I have the Roku from netflix...

Great way to watch all the old sci fi movies for only the price of my netflix membership.

Anybody else have one?

All the movies are downloaded and many play at hd!

Some of the $3 per year channels look interesting too.

Does it actually store the movies locally so you can watch them multiple times or does it stream them from a server each time?

A PS3, Xbox 360, wii, or many of the new blu-ray players and tivo boxes will do this as well as the roku box.

All movies are streamed from their servers, it takes abt 20 seconds to start the movie and the stream is rarely interrupted.

Pretty darn neat technology!

We use it in the Xbox 360 and have no complaints.  Looks great, no interruptions.  Controls for xbox suck.  Have not loaded it on the Wii yet.   Instant queue is great.   We miss the DVD extras though.  The story about the Roku is interesting.   Netflix developed it and something like a week before launch the CEO dropped it saying they were not in the hardware business and it would distract from their core business of delivering content.  The CEO thought it was a tough sell getting another box under the TV.  He saw the future as an embedded player in every TN, BluRay, Game Console and smart phone.  Some of the engineers spun off a company to market the hardware box they developed and named it Roku.
