Star Gate Universe (SGu)
« on: October 17, 2009, 10:31:33 AM »

Well, other than the shaky hand cam Battlestar Noir film style... SGu is actually growing on me.  I have subscribed to it on Hulu and watch the episodes Saturday morning.  I wasn't sure about the first and second episodes, the third one was interesting and the fourth was pretty good, although I want to slap Baltar - oops, I mean the other mean science guy.

I've been watching it too. There's a couple of characters that are annoying but a lot of interesting characters that aren't annoying. What do you think is going to happen with the star system they're in? I'm guessing it's a re-fueling stop for the ship.

I noticed that the geek guy is having all the luck with the ladies.  ;D

The Geeky guy, he treads right up to the line but... he isn't a total waffle, he gets serious when he needs to and he has  stood up to some of the strong personalities.  He seems safe from becoming the next Wesley Crusher.

The angst ridden soldier, Mr Tough Guy, I actually like.  In the desert episode he kept pushing himself to go farther and farther, berating his LT for trying to quit... I can relate to that.

The HR director with the clip board in episode 4 needs to be airlocked, with the Senator's daughter to save resources.

The plot device, making short videos with the 'Kinos', wore thin on me.  Seemed a lazy way for the writers to introduce the supporting characters... and some of the actors seemed to be getting their first screen time in character... so it was as much to introduce us to them as it was for them to 'get a feel' for their characters.

$.02  :P

oh, the ship going through the gas giant's atmosphere, man was that straight form BSG method or what ? - shaky cam, distant shot  ::)

The Geeky guy is probably my favorite character. He isn't remotely like wesley crusher.

I like it a lot.  Think it's a good extension to the Stargate saga...

Still need to see the first episode...

It is growing in me.   We just switched form Comcast to AT&T U-verse.  I too finally have a DVR.  I'll probably add this one to the list.  So far, I have Flashforward scheduled and, err, nothing else.

How do you like AT&T U-verse?  I've been thinking about getting it?

Ok that last one, 'Earth' was just kind of nasty... why did we replace the humor of SG1 with the harsh drama of SG-U?

I am posting a long message in the tech section :-)   In a nutshell, I think it is OK.  HD is not as clear as Comast watching Sharks games.  That sucks.
