The Universe - Yea, we know it all
« on: September 24, 2009, 03:41:38 PM »

I am reading about the origin of the universe in a recent Scientific American.   They are talking about knowing how old the universe is and how much it is expanding based on red wave light.  This is all very interesting but I can't help thing how arrogant these people are.   They know when the universe started?  Really?  Are ya sure?  Come on.  e have been studying this for a couple hundred years at best.  Only in the last few decades have we had technology to see stuff far away.  Do we really think we know it all already?    Really?

So if we are a blob of lightless hydrogen et al hanging around for someone to light a match, then suddenly BOOM.  We are a universe expanding, what are we expanding into?  Maybe my feeble mind can't grasp there has to be something to expand into even if it is nothing but then nothing is something so we must be expanding into unused space or moving nothingness out of our way so our new somethingness can expand and galaxies and such and be born.  I think we think too much of ourselves.

ROFL.

Now I am reading about the origin of life.   I need a few home brews in me before I start that topic.
