Personal Milestones
« on: June 22, 2009, 09:01:19 PM »

Well, it looks like I'm finally going to pass the 1 million cobblestone mark on POEM tonight. It will be my first project to 1 million. QMC should pass the 1 million mark in the next few days. I've been holding QMC back because I wanted one of the protein folding projects to be first since disease fighting interests me the most.

Well, I finally kicked over a million cobblestones on QMC. That makes 2 projects over a million. After this months SIMAP scramble, I'll be working on getting Rosetta over a million and making some progress on some smaller projects.

One of them is IBERCIVIS. It's an interesting project but it's a pain to run. It tends to overfetch work and since everything has a 2 day deadline, it get's itself into "running, priority mode" a lot. Part of the problem is the project drastically underestimating the amount of work in a WU. I think my duration correction factor is over 30 on a Core 2 Duo 6420 (2.13 GHz, 4 MB cache). It's a combo project kind of like WCG, but has hardly anyone running it.

Some not so big numbers, but they're fun...

Passed 100,000 in SETI -- took long enough, and I'll bet a big bump there was the new GPU app.
50,000 in Spinhenge
10,000 in Virtual Prairie -- those tiny jobs take forever to add up!

Enjoy your weekend!
