Are any of you Mac users?
« on: August 06, 2008, 12:01:24 PM »

I finally did it, i bought my first mac pc. It's a macbook pro.

I have not tried any DC clients on it yet but i will say, it renders video out very fast.

I still have several windoze boxes and make my living writing windows software. Just wanted something different that I could do my video and photography projects on.

It's been fun playing with it but i must say, they are way over priced.

I have a 2-core G5 that I turned loose on Einstein.  It's the only one I could find that ran on pre-Intel HW.

Hi guys!

I'm back at the university (this time I'm working on my PhD) and I got a G5 iMac for my office. I'm running Enigma, SETI and simap on it. That G5 is old, slow and low on ram so contirbution isn't much but I hope it helps. Also I'm running QMC on my windows laptop. I do have a CD MacMini at home but my I can't run any DC on it 'cause it just makes too much noise and my family doesn't like it :(

Anyways... I was wondering if any of you guys have a spare Win Xp (lisence and media) that you're not using. Reason for this is that my current 5-year old laptop is getting on it's last leg and do need to get a new one. I've been thinking of buying a MacBookPro since it hase reasonable battery life but I need a Windows OS to run a spesific software to do my PhD. So I was thinking to set up (if I get that XP somewhere) the mac so that it runs XP in VirtualBox or Parallels. But if I don't find that XP (really hard to come by here at a reasonable price and to this work I can not use any pirate bay version) I have to find a suitable Windows laptop which means it will be severly underpowered... Any ideas?

I am not a Mac user, though I was forced to use office Macs, some of the originals...waaaay back in 88-90 or so...

I do have a dual-core Toshiba laptop (with Vista, yechhh!) that I got last February, but have not run BOINC on it...don't want to fry a laptop...

Hi Sam!   :)

I unfortunately do not have an XP available, or I'd let you have it.  Did you try eBay?
