The folks who overclock swear by the G0 stepping version -- less power consumption and higher speeds.

Yet one more way to get more bang for your DC buck -- if you can make a 2.4 GHz chip run like a 3.0 GHz chip without paying the $300 premium, why not?

Sometimes the BIOS will not let you even have the option to overclock, as I've seen with one of my quads.  I need to look into the other four  :) ;D

you really can't do anything with a 'prefab' like a Dell, HP or whatever...  which is why I was harping on building your own, not only is it cheaper but it can be more versatile

this is an older setup, but a well rounded article Bob:

Unfortunately, to cut costs I used an Intel Mobo with built in video etc  This got me running, but it tied my hands on overclocking.  That being said, as I replace them with other boards, they would be perfectly good for anyone who wants to build a quad on a budget.

And really, I'm so conservative, even 2.6 or 2.8 could be plenty for me...

Does anyone know if this motherboard support overclocking?

Yes it does.  The review I found said it might be more suitable for mild overclocking than hardcore overclocking.  So, it might be a good place to start and try some mild tweaks.

Get one of these too (eventually), the OEM cooler would be fine for very mild stuff, if you watch the temps carefully

Run the Boinc CPU benchmark on one of these and post it...  (I assume you have one of these).  I'd like to see what vista home premium does.

Anybody got a place I can stay for a while?  I told my wife I wanted to buy a quad for BOINCing.
