Group Project?
« on: August 02, 2007, 05:13:57 PM »

In the days of old, Phoenix once called for the whole team to work on Rosetta simultaneously, it was a lot of fun and it really re-invigorated the Team and the BBS.

Is it time for us to do a massive all out run on a single project, and which should it be?

The Rosetta push brought me here, so I'll back a push on another project in an attempt to recruit more people to our team.

Sounds like fun!

I'm thinking Lattice, and QMC have a relatively strong team presence already, are close to "production" status, and are accepting new accounts (Malaria has turned off account creation) -- they might be good starting points.  I could be tempted by Leiden too.  It is also close to or in production status, and falling between QMC's 17k users and Lattice's 1k, we could probably drive up the ranks there.

Don't get me wrong, I'd do CPDN or Einstein in a heartbeat, but at least CPDN might be tough for some members.

I was surprised to see how many of us were crunching Tanpaku, SIMAP, Proteins and Predictor.  Anyone want to make a case for them?

Aw, shucks...blush  ;D  Really, all Phoenix did was ask and the team was ready for something like this and it happened  :)

And to just find out that Sangamon got here due to that push is just...wow...Phoenix is happy  :)

Ready to join in in any project that gets the group vote for a push!!  Phoenix is ready to point his farm at the Chosen Project and elevate it to 99999%  :)

Tanpaku is kind of cranky (for me anyway), CPDN is pretty intense for my hardware....

I have never run QMC, might be open to that, 'Lettuce' might be ok if they are done with the 'Garlic' units.   So I'm thinking 'Tempura','Lettuce' or QMC.

Other ideas?  Support?

My vote is for QMC. They have WU's to crunch (compared to simap), it's a good project (lots of credits and good science) and project admins communicate well with the community thru message board... Also I do lead Phoenix on that one  ;D (<- apparently not for long but I just had to pick my nose...  ;)  ::) :P )

QMC or Lattice work for me, although I'm more leaning toward Lattice since I have crunched there a bit already.  The Garli WU's don't worry me if I'm going to be crunching there 100% - it's just when I'm switching back and forth between projects and they don't checkpoint where they cause me headaches.

My personal vote would be QMC out of the last three posts, cause they have more consistent WU and what the hey, I already have lots of credit there, I could easily make it my first project over 500k!  How many of those so you have Phoenix?   ;D

Someone could write a short promo about QMC what it does and that this is currently our latest group porject, PM it to me and I'll send it to all forum members. Maybe someone of our idle members will start crunching again. Actually if someone else has some Team Sci-Fi stats or other stuff that could be included in this newsletter please PM me.

I'll start to transfer my penguins over to QMC soon.
