Ah Hah! Now we know why the whole team RAC is off by 25%!
Could be. I went from 8000 down to 2000 a day now (or less when the AC units break a circuit while I'm not home like last night).
It's amazing how addicting this hobby is. I spent my lunch today investigating parts for a big cruncher that has no other use than BOINC, and I went so far as beginning to look into my financing options so I could buy it now.
Then I stopped a talked some sense into myself... for the time being...
Resistence is futile, don't fight it... I've been psychotically building boxen that do nothing but crunch for some time. The begining of the end was when I scored 6 old Dell Optiplex from a school district for free.
My recent upsurge in RAC is due to the fact I got to build a box as close to what I really wanted for the first time ever. The problem is that the way prices continue to drop, I may have a clone of the big one very soon. I have heard a rumor that there is a big price reduction in CPU's coming post July 22nd as Intel declares war on AMD (again).
This really is addictive, my IT friends get their fill at work and just shake their heads when they see my farm.
BTW since DC has migrated from SETI to more earthly projects, I'm finding some of my friends are a little more interested in some of the projects. You know, searching for ET was little too geeky for the pragmatists, but malaria and Aids are more realisitic.
Had to laugh at the AC comment! Shove the bastard out the window, show it who rules the house!
