Whilst I have never managed to stay awake through the entire 2001 film. I'm partial to Blade Runner and Minority Report, but Serenity is a worthy entry. I loved the series and was glad Mr. Whedon had a chance to make a film.
Blade Runner, director's cut (no narration and no intrusive soundtrack), Roy Batty's speech at the end is much more powerful when you are more focused on his facial expressions and hanging on his words without Decker's moralizing voice.
2001 may have made the genre and ushered in the age of big budget sci-fi, but Blade Runner re-defined it. Blade Runner's impact is so far reaching and such a change from 'perfect future' movies... it still blows my mind to watch it.
Mine too. Was there ever an alternate-ending issue of Blade Runner? If so, I have GOT to see it...
Seems to me, the director's cut WAS slightly different, I'd have to watch both to be sure. I don't think the new ending was so radical, I think it just made it crystal clear that Dekker and Rachael left the city to start somewhere together, and that Gant had been to his apartment and let her go.
But, wasn't this a Serenity thread before Rowan got me going on Blade Runner?
